Teen Work Sharp™ for Vocational Prep
Vocational education and personal mentoring are the cornerstone of our program, coupled with off-site vocational placement with business partners. At our Tennessee boarding school, boys 13-17 gain confidence, build character and develop life skills through on-site work projects. Boys also learn to use many different hand and power tools. As they progress, they are allowed, with supervision, to apply for and obtain off-site work.
The wide variety of on-site trades includes; Carpentry, Woodworking, Electrical Work, Plumbing, Computer Basics, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Auto Mechanics, Barista training, and much more.
Our vocational staff aids teen boys in learning accountability, transportation, and company compliance, and each boy’s hard-earned paychecks go into a savings account. The program also keeps teen boys moving toward independent living as young adults.
Our key overall focus is to help young teens become upstanding citizens who learn the value of a good, hard day’s work and develop a strong character so that they can one day provide for themselves and their families.
Adult Work Sharp™ for Life
(Separate Program for Ages 18-25)
The Adult Work Sharp program in New York serves the transition from foster care to adulthood. Once the foster boy turns 18, he is removed from the foster care system. Young men who have gone from home to home, parent to parent, are expected to enter the working world with the skills to hold a job, keep up with rent, and remain independent. But that rarely ends up being the case. Many young men end up broke, homeless, in trouble with the law, and angry at the world…
The Adult Work Sharp program is dedicated to serving the transition of young men from foster care to adulthood. Our goal is to help young men (18-25) transition into society as stable contributors, being able to hold a job, live on their own, and give back to their community. We offer a group home setting with one-to-one mentoring, psychological counseling, and attainable goals focusing on Workforce Development, Physical & Mental Health, & Spiritual Development.
